Serving with excellence and protecting every child.

We have implemented a 7-step screening process that must be completed before anyone is approved to work with minors within one of our program expressions. Please read the steps below and fill out the contact form.

  1. 1

    Orientation Required

    Anyone interested in a position with minors must attend a prerequisite on-ramp/orientation class covering all policies, procedures, protocols, and the organization's vision, values, and program practices.

  2. 2

    Signed Application & Background Check

    Applicants complete a signed application granting leadership permission to request, run, and review local, national, and international law-enforcement criminal background checks. This includes vetting against state, national, and international sex-offender registries, plus all listed references and other agencies the applicant has been involved with.

    Senior-Level Interview

    Applicants clearing steps 1–2 are interviewed by a senior-level director and deployment team member. Interview questions are vetted with experts in crimes against children, law enforcement, established counselors, and child-safety organizations, and reveal the applicant's motives, values, and interpersonal relationships. Any background-check hits are discussed with divisional and departmental leadership, and then with the individual.

    Internal Vetting

    Applicants clearing steps 1–3 are vetted through other leaders within the organization to surface any information important to the placement decision.

  5. 5

    Executive Review

    Applicants clearing steps 1–4 enter the final screening stage. The file (application, background checks, interview responses, reference responses, internal approvals) is reviewed by the Executive Director and the deployment/placement team.

  6. 6

    Decision

    Applicants clearing steps 1–5 are approved or denied by the Executive Director and deployment team.

  7. 7

    Placement

    When approved, the applicant is placed with a ministry director for observation and assignment.
